WELCOME TO ANMC

Australian Nepalese Multicultural Centre (ANMC) INC trading as “Nepalese Community Centre” is a not-for-profit organization registered with Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV). ANMC was established in 2014 with the sole objective of preserving and promoting rich Nepalese culture, and heritage in multicultural Australia. Originally promoted by Nepalese Association of Victoria and Non-Resident Nepalese Association (NRNA), ANMC is now supported by all Nepalese community in Victoria. ANMC’s model of community centre is unique as it will include a Hindu temple, Buddhist temple and a multipurpose hall. This will be implemented in a single location or via multiple locations within Victoria. The project will be completed in various stages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do we need a Nepali Community Centre ?

The first and foremost reason for a dedicated Nepali Community Centre is to have a venue to provide service specific to Nepali community. Amenities required for life events and festivals of all ethnic groups of Nepal are not readily available.

Why do I need to be a member?

This is members based center.
Members are needed to fund and manage the center.
Greater number of paid members enables the center to access government grants and support.
Though being a member is a contribution to the community of today and future generations, members will get membership benefits such as discounted hall hiring fee, rights to set the policies and decide on how the center is run.

Dr. Tilak Pokharel –

Dr Tilak Pokharel has completed his PhD in Structural/Earthquake engineering from the University of Melbourne in 2017. He has finished his masters and bachelors in Engineering from the University of Tokyo and Tribhuvan University respectively. He has received the gold medal for scoring highest grades in both bachelor and masters in Engineering. He is also a recipient of Nepal Bidhya Bhusan from Government of Nepal and Academic and Professional award from NAV. Currently, Dr Pokharel is working as a National Technical Manager at AEFAC at the Swinburne University of Technology.

Dr Pokharel has served as an executive committee member of NAV. He is also volunteering to run the Nepali Radio program “Melbourne Chautari” since 2016. He has involved several community organizations in Nepal, Japan and Australia including founding president of Nepali Students Association in the University of Melbourne.
