TEEJ Together @ ANMC 2025 – A Historic Celebration of Unity and Culture

On 26 August 2025, the Australian Nepalese Multicultural Centre (ANMC) hosted one of the largest Nepali cultural gatherings ever held in Victoria. Despite the rain and strong winds, more than 5,000 people joined us at our Diggers Rest premises to celebrate Haritalika Teej with music, dance, rituals, and community spirit.

This year’s Teej was different. For the first time, major Nepali organisations in Victoria came together to host a single, shared event under the banner “TEEJ Together @ ANMC.” Co-organised by ANMC and Didi Bahini Samaj Victoria (DBSV), and in partnership with the Nepalese Association of Victoria (NAV) and NRNA Nari Nikunja Victoria, the event marked a milestone in unity and collaboration across our community.

Supported by the Victorian State Government, the Consulate Office of Nepal to Victoria, and many community organisations and local businesses, the festival highlighted what we can achieve when we work together.

The day was filled with vibrant performances, joyful dancing, and traditional rituals:

  • Shiva–Parvati Puja and Teej rituals brought women together in devotion and prayer.
  • Cultural and youth performances celebrated heritage while giving the younger generation a platform to connect with tradition.
  • Live music, DJ, and an open dance floor kept the energy alive throughout the day.
  • A free vegetarian feast was provided.
  • Activities of children.

This festival was only possible through the tireless efforts of many individuals and groups.

  • Volunteers managed every aspect from the kitchen to crowd management, temple operations, and line coordination with remarkable dedication.
  • Community organisations contributed their energy and support to ensure this celebration reflected the diversity of our community.
  • Sponsors and supporters, including many local businesses, helped make the event free and accessible for all.
  • Finally, we thank all Victorians who joined us, stood in the rain, and celebrated together as one.
