Chhath Parba Celebrated at ANMC

The Nepalese Madheshi Community Victoria (NMCV) celebrated Chhath Parba at the Australian Nepalese Multicultural Centre (ANMC) in Diggers Rest on 27 and 28 October 2025. The event was supported by ANMC and attended by a large number of devotees and community members from across Victoria.

Chhath Parba is one of the most important Hindu festivals dedicated to the Sun God, Surya, and Chhathi Maiya. It is celebrated to express gratitude for life, energy and wellbeing. The festival involves strict fasting, ritual bathing, and offering prayers to the setting and rising sun.

The celebration began on Monday evening, 27 October, with offerings to the setting sun. The following morning, 28 October, devotees gathered again before sunrise to complete the ritual by making offerings to the rising sun. The devotion, discipline and cultural unity displayed during the ceremony created a peaceful and spiritual environment at ANMC.

ANMC thanked NMCV for organising the event and all devotees and volunteers for their participation. The celebration once again showed how ANMC continues to serve as a cultural home for all Nepalese communities in Australia.
